COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAMS (Overview)

ACT, SAT, PSAT, TOEFL, ACT PLAN, and the list goes on.  To some these letters may seem reminiscent of the 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To participate in the CPCC Career and College Promise (CCP) program at Ardrey Kell applicants must:

  • Be a rising junior or senior and on track for graduation

  • Hold a minimum 3.0 weighted GPA 

  • Be able to provide own transportation to CPCC campus location

  • Demonstrate college readiness by achieving the required scores on a single test or by combining test scores in the areas of English, Reading and Mathematics from any of the approved assessments below:

APPLICATION PROCESS (Spring 2017 Enrollment-Seniors Only)

Important Note:  Registration for CPCC’s Career and College Promise Program is a process with specific and necessary steps.  Failure to complete any of the steps below will result in exclusion from the Career & College Promise Program.  You are applying to college through this process and will be held accountable for all necessary steps.  Read the following information carefully.

Application Deadline:  Friday, October 21, 2016

​

Step 1: Attend an information session at CPCC.  This is a new requirement from CPCC and must be taken in order for the college to recognize your application. It is a good way to take a comprehensive look at CCP and whether it is the right fit for you.  Information Sessions are held every Monday at 4:30pm beginning September 12th through December 12th.  Sessions are located in in Central High 331 (see map below). Parking is behind the Central High Building off Kings Drive. Parents are encouraged to attend!

Step 2:  Complete the CCP online application.  Complete the CCP online application using the following link: http://www.cpcc.edu/hsprograms/register-for-career-and-college-promise-cms-students.  Once your application has been processed you will receive an admissions letter by email from ccp@cpcc.edu.   This letter will include your Student ID Number (You will need that number when creating your CPCC login).  If you do not receive an email with your Student ID within 3 business days of submission, please check your junk or spam email folder.  If it is not there, contact: ashley.robinson@cpcc.edu

Step 3: Create your CPCC LoginAfter you complete the Online CCP Application you will receive your CPCC ID # within 24 hours via the email that you used to register.  Note: Your CPCC ID # must be included on your application that is turned into Mr. Knoblich.  

 

Step 4: Activate your CPCC E-mail AddressCPCC provides an official student email account to every student. Your CPCC Login is also your CPCC Email. This CPCC email is the college's official means of communicating with students, the Cashiering Office, instructors, advisors, and for campus alerts. You shoulc check your CPCC student email every day.

Step 5: Complete the Ardrey Kell CCP Application.  You can access the form at the link to the left, or see Mr. Knoblich for an application. Proof of your eligible test scores must be stapled to your AK CCP application.  You may use a combination of scores to meet eligibility requirements. Test scores can be found in your Naviance Account.  Look under the “About Me” tab and you will see the 'Test Scores' heading.  You can print this off and highlight the scores that qualify you.  If you are not eligible based on your scores you will need to take the CPCC Placement Test. (This can be done at a later date.)

Step 6: Return your CPP Application to Mr. Knoblich (Deadline is October 21, 2016).

PROGRAM POLICIES & INFORMATION

Course Selection

​

Attendance

  • Attendance at CPCC classes is required

  • You must follow CPCC’s academic calendar in addition to the CMS academic calendar.  You will start school in the spring at least one week prior to the second semester of CMS.. You might also be attending CPCC classes during CMS holidays, fall and spring break, and teacher workdays  

  • Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from CPCC.  AK Students will not be given special consideration for an AK Parking Spot because you are in the CPCC Program  

  • Students may not stay on the Ardrey Kell Campus during their CCP Block(s)

​Grading

  • The grade(s) you receive from courses taken while enrolled in the CCP Program will count twice (once as a college credit and once as a high school credit)


Fees and Expenses

  • CPCC tuition is waived for CMS CCP students

  • Due to budgetary constraints, students may be responsible for the cost of textbooks

  • When available, students may receive a $50.00 Barnes & Noble gift cards to help cover the cost of textbooks

  • The student will be responsible for and additional costs of enrollment (e.g. student fees, insurance, etc.)​​​​​
